See, touch, understand, share, pass on…

Go to the Musée de Millau et des Grands Causses at the Hôtel de Peygayrolles, in the historic town center. Here, the heyday of Millavoise glove-making, shoemaking and shoe-making is “alive” right up to the present day.

A reconstructed workshop, a supporting documentary film and photos of the various stages of production give you a better understanding of how a glove is assembled by the “little hands”, the famous glove seamstresses. A colorful exhibition of hundreds of models, both classic, trendy and original, some of them partners of international cinema “scripts” such as Gabin, Lino Ventura and Rita Hayworth. The latest glove to join the collection: a copy of the unique model created for the hands of the Beast played by Jean Marais in Jean Cocteau’s La Belle et la Bête. In 2013, Olivier Fabre of Maison Fabre donated a replica of this legendary glove in silk-lined lambskin, hand-embroidered in gold thread with Swarovski crystal chips, to the Millau Museum.

The Musée de Millau et des Grands Causses also offers discovery workshops on the theme of glove-making for younger visitors during the school vacations.
