Millau, in small steps

Urban strolls, nature walks or hide-and-seek in the rocks: a few ideas for walks with your children.

A stroll around Millau

Let’s take a stroll down Millau’s byways, to meet the city’s inhabitants and emblematic monuments:

Walk and play in Millau, along the banks of the Tarn
Walk Millau’s narrow streets and lanes
From the city center, it’s easy to walk to the start of the circuits. Cross the Pont le Rouge bridge, and follow the bike path along the Tarn for 2 km, following the Trace Verte du Viaduc de Millau.
Discover Millau and the surrounding area from a child’s point of view, and all the activities to do with the whole family.

Follow in Mr Clapassou's footsteps

Clapassou is a funny little wrought-iron character, representing a clapas ( = a pile of stones), in reference to the peasants who removed stones from the fields before cultivating them.

Several hiking trails from 1h30 to 4-5 h to discover many hidden treasures. Mr Clapassou will accompany you in your discovery of nature and heritage: Le Tournals for a break or a picnic, the old mill or the Creissels waterfalls! Here’s what Mr Clapassou has to offer…

The Creissels waterfalls trail

In the shade of the tall trees, walk along the stream on a footpath, accessible even with a stroller, to a small picnic area. To get to the foot of the waterfall, it’s a bit like a treasure hunt: explore, crawl, kids love it!
In dry weather everything’s fine, in wet weather, bring good shoes!

Hide-and-seek in the rocks

Montpellier-le-vieux is an immense rocky labyrinth particularly suited to a family day out. Endless hiding places in the heart of nature in its raw state.

Wander the site to encounter imaginary shapes shaped by nature representing animals. There’s a complete zoo here: sphynx, elephant and crocodile, bear head or snail dog! Don’t miss the star of the domain: La porte de Mycènes, a monumental 12-metre-high arch where Bourvil and de Funès filmed several scenes from La Grande Vadrouille.

As a family, the multitude of trails combining natural tracks, developed and signposted paths, suitable for all levels, make Montpellier-le-Vieux, a real paradise. If your children don’t feel like walking or are too tired, hop aboard the little train to discover the wonders of the park.
