Les Grandes voies des Gorges de la Jonte

A climbing legend

To climb the Jonte is to follow in the footsteps of the pioneers of local climbing. Half a century later, the magic of the site is still at work… Forget the old wooden wedges and homemade pitons, it’s time for concrete belays and pins!

The Jonte

A name, a setting, an atmosphere!

This is THE historic spot in the region. Rest assured, the site has kept pace with technical developments. Most of the routes are state-of-the-art, while retaining a certain sense of commitment that is so characteristic of climbing on the Jonte.

A few hundred routes await you. All are skilfully listed in a magnificent topoguide, which tells the story of the Jonte and gives an idea of the impressive work of the local climbers and fitters, without whom nothing would have been possible.

Track access

de la Jonte

From Millau, follow the signs for the Gorges du Tarn. At the village of Le Rozier / Peyreleau, the Jonte river joins the Tarn. The vertical adventure begins here!

The first routes require a few minutes’ approach. For most of them, allow between 20 and 30 minutes, perfect for a good warm-up!

Finding your way

Between twisted “renfougnes”, easy routes, great sport routes or adventure terrain on one of 15 mythical sectors: “le réverend”, “la Diagonale du Gogol”, “la roche décollée”, “le ravin des échos”, “le bitard” and so many more.

“La Jonte” is the name of the complete Topo. In addition to invaluable instructions on access, grading, safety and rope lengths required, it also tells a whole bunch of cool anecdotes about the history of the site and its environment.
