9am: Once you’ve rested up, and had breakfast in your gîte, you’ll set off on the second day’s loop, between Causse Noir and Gorge towards the upper Tarn valley. A perfect loop to let go, enjoy the scenery and watch the ballet of vultures overhanging the valley.
The tour begins with the ascent of the Pouncho d’Agast on the Causse Noir. La Pouncho d’Agast, at an altitude of almost 900 meters, offers you a magnificent view of Millau and its Viaduct in the background, a must-see spot for internationally renowned hang-gliding.
You’ll travel along a beautiful Gravel track to get to the Auberge du Maubert, to dine on simple, tasty homemade products.
Continuing your journey in the heart of the Causse Noir, a gravel treat in a landscape of pines and rocks, on a pretty rolling track to the Sonnac equestrian center, then down into the valley offering you a panorama of the Château de Peyrelade.
Majestic 12th-century medieval fortress built on a rocky spur overlooking the valley and the entrance to the Gorges du Tarn, built between the 12th and 16th centuries, Château de Peyrelade was one of the most important fortresses in Rouergue in the Middle Ages, thanks to the position of its natural dungeon-rock, which enabled it to control the Tarn valley. The tour will give you an insight into the site’s history, its atypical architecture, and the many restoration and excavation projects undertaken over the past 30 years.
You’ll continue on to the perched village of Compeyre, a pretty little village with a winegrower’s soul!
At the heart of your tour, you’ll discover the Entre-deux-Monts cellars, semi-troglodyte cellars built in the 17th century, testimonials to the valley’s wine production.
Return to Millau at around 5:00 pm for a final general debriefing with Loïc, who will have given you his best advice throughout the weekend!
