In the skin of a beekeeper

In Roquefort country, we have sheep, but we also have bees! Follow Nadia and Bruno for a real immersion in the heart of the bee world, a privileged 2h00 discovery, during which one of you passes the outfit!

After a time of learning basic gestures with Bruno the beekeeper, who accompanies you to meet a colony of bees, all gently.

Amid the buzzing of our benevolent bees, open the hive, perform several manipulations and discover an intense life … It’s magical: the queen, the brood, the workers are busy, the crops in progress shine, revealing their fragrances. Your loved ones, protected behind a bay window, won’t miss a moment of it, as images and sound are transmitted live!

After this intimate encounter with our bees, what could be better than a tasting session? During an introduction to organoleptic flavor analysis, you’ll have no fewer than 10 honeys to taste. Will you be able to identify the woody, floral and animal notes of our honeys?

L'instant gourmand

Continue the sensory experience in the heart of the magnificentfortified village of Saint-Jean d’Alcas, in the bucolic settings of the Ferme d’Alcas.

Alexandre, a breeder at heart, and Emilie, a seeker of meaning, have taken up the family torch that has kept the Ferme d’Alcas alive for over 5 generations. They look after 300 ewes who produce organic and Demeter-certified milk. This milk, so carefully harvested, is delivered in part to Société for the fabrication of Roquefort and for the rest, transformed on the farm into cheese: Bleu d’Alcas as well as yaourts with multiple flavors, which have made the reputation of these biodynamic producers, well beyond the Aveyronnais department!

Proud of this know-how,they share their passion by warmly welcoming you for a 1:00 tour of their farm. Through a photo exhibition retracing the steps involved in making yogurt and cheese, their work and the specifics of biodynamic farming will hold no more secrets!

At the end of the visit, it’s gourmet time with the tasting of their farmhouse cheese made from raw ewe’s milk, their yogurts or their jams. You’re sure to come away with a new perspective on agriculture and life.

In the skin of a shepherdess

Let the taste and smell of the King of Cheeses carry you to the village of Roquefort and its cellars. Discover the legend and ancestral cheese-making know-how of manufacturer Gabriel Coulet, a family business founded in 1872 that collects medals at agricultural competitions.

You’ll start the tour with a 20-minute film retracing the history of the family, which has been proudly perpetuating the heritage of an ancestral cheese-making know-how for 5 generations.

Take the stairs, to the reconstructed salting room and learn the precious gestures of the cabanières who carefully package this white and blue gold that is Roquefort. You’ll see, it’s not all that easy!

All this will make your mouth water. The final tasting of Roquefort and ewe’s cheese accompanied by a glass of wine is sure to satisfy the taste buds of gourmands!
