Peyreleau: a small town full of character
On arrival, settle into your accommodation in the heart of the village of Rozier, gateway to the gorges du Tarn et de la Jonte.
At dusk, set off to explore the neighboring village of Peyreleau in the company of Germaine Bonheur, a half-extra-lucid, half-extravagant guide, for a tangy tour, with emotion, laughter, anecdotes, history, and sausages (well, we’re not sure about the sausages yet, but the rest, yes!)
End this beautiful day with a meal on the terrace, overlooking the Jonte River that separates the loving villages!

Early in the morning, survey the gorges de la Jonte, heading for Meyrueis (it’s easy, all the letters can be pronounced), where you’ll climb the Causse Méjean.
From a deep, wooded valley, you pass into the clone of Mongolia’s steppes without transition. Beware, the change of scenery is brutal.
Continue on to l’Aven Armand, the iconic cave on this side of the Jonte, and explore the titanically large cavity!
On your way out, take time for a picnic in the shade of the surrounding trees before heading back to the nearby village for a visit to the heart of local traditions.
The Ferme Caussenarde d’Autrefoiswill (re)introduce you to peasant life, and you’ll then share a snack all in produits locaux chez la voisine.
The rest of the day is free, and you can even return via the gorges du Tarn and stop off at its emblematic villages!

The secret of the vultures
After a hearty breakfast, round off your stay with a visit to the Maison des Vautours, which you’re sure to have noticed the day before at the start of the Gorges de la Jonte.
An opportunity for the whole family to get acquainted with the 4 species of birds of prey reintroduced to the gorges nearly 15 years ago.
