Only French stage of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series
The date is set for June 18, 2023 in Millau. The Wish One Millau Grands Causses will host the only French stage and the 1st European stage of the TREK UCI Gravel World Series.
In France, Wish One, already organizer of multiple Gravel events, has been chosen by the International Cycling Union to organize this unique French stage of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series in Millau.
Start almost downtown, from the Parc de la Victoire for a course of 130km over exceptional Caussen landscapes! The picturesque, rustic back roads of the Aveyron will compete with the beautiful rolling Caussenard trails or single tracks in the undergrowth to offer the best of these landscapes that so many envy.
With 500 km of trails labeled by Wish One in the heart of the Sud-Aveyron, the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causses is, without a doubt, a Land of Gravel. With its ever-changing, multi-hued landscapes, from the limestone of Larzac to the rougiers of Camarès via the Templar cities, this atypical territory deserves to be known and offers Gravel enthusiasts an exceptional playground, chosen by the UCI to host the Trek UCI Gravel World Series.
What’s a “TREK UCI Gravel Wordl series?”
Born in the American Midwest 12 to 15 years ago, Gravel events are the new craze in the cycling world. After the USA, other continents have adopted the Gravel concept currently booming worldwide.
Elites, but not only…
Focusing both on elites but also masters and cyclotourists, these events are a long-distance bike race on roads and trails with adventurous and often challenging wilderness courses. The Trek UCI Gravel World Series is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held around the world.
Some 15 to 20 qualifying events will qualify the top 25% of each age group for the UCI Gravel World Championships, where the champions will receive the coveted UCI rainbow jersey.
The Union Cycliste Internationale is an organization whose aim is to develop and promote cycling in cooperation with national federations. It is based at the World Cycling Center in Aigle, Switzerland.
Starting in Millau, the route will take participants through the superb Causse landscapes, along a 130km course alternating rustic roads, rolling tracks, singletracks, undergrowth, and forest paths. While the diversity of the Grands Causses region should charm riders, the course is no less challenging. A high level of technique and physical fitness will be required to qualify for the world championships.
