Touring it on a motorcycle is always a pleasure. If the roads are not very wide, the straight lines and angel hair or other wild grasses floating in the wind always offer an impression of immense freedom.
Take a break at La Couvertoirade, little Carcassonne listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
On this high plateau, the Cirque de Navacelles “disturbs” this steppe-like horizon with its deeply carved meander and its little village of Navacelles, at the very bottom.
Grand Site de France, Grand Site Occitanie, Causses & Cévennes UNESCO… nothing less!
Above all, it’s a motorcycle ride that’s well worth a look!
The 1st viewpoint at Baume Auriol is the most spectacular, vertically overlooking the cirque. The road that plunges into the heart of the cirque is equally spectacular. Beware, however, of the heavy traffic in summer.
Once you’re at the bottom, don’t hesitate to put the bike down for a few minutes and take a tour of the charming village.
And off you go for the climb back up the slope opposite, with a short stop at the Belvédère de Blandas at the summit, just to compare 😉
Bruno’s tip – The little Causse de Blandas is packed with megaliths: dolmens, menhirs and cromlechs. A higher concentration than in Brittany! Take a look at some of these Neolithic monuments here.
After the Causse du Larzac and the Cirque de Navacelles, we continue the motorcycle ride through the wild and majestic roads of the Gorges de la Dourbie.
The little sister of the Gorges du Tarn et de la Jonte, they are characterized by a succession of verdant gorges and high limestone cliffs, punctuated by quaint little perched villages such as Cantobre, Saint-Véran, Montméjean…
The river irresistibly attracts with its emerald, crystal-clear colors. A swim stop? What a great idea!
You’re now just a few km from Millau…
V à tous!!
